In 2004 Scientific Research Institute for information technologies of Moscow State Academy of physical training together with the ‘Voprosy psychologii’ magazine planned to release a CD containing all the articles in the magazine published for a 15-year period (1988 – 2002). A convenient hierarchical retrieval system based on hyperlinks has been developed, so that a user can easily find necessary information. We faced the fact that previous CD versions (for 5, 8 and 10-year periods) have been illegally copied and sold. This prompted us to search for illegal copying protection systems. The Institute staff has performed the analysis of existing protection systems and method, which showed the following: firstly, it is inexpedient to develop our own protection system as we intended to do at first; secondly, the most efficient protection system is offered by StarForce.
We have been cooperating with StarForce for four years already. We made use of the StarForce services when issuing the ‘Voprosy psychologii’ CDs for 15 and 20-year periods, and the ‘Medicines made out of plants’ CD.
Scientific Research Institute for information technologies develops a wide range of information systems in the field of physical training and sport, provides scientific-methods support for Russian national sports teams and monitors the level of physical training of schoolboys/girls and students. The most advanced directions are the expert systems for athletic training planning for various sports. These systems have no analogues in the world. Another important line of activity of the Institute is the development of systems for biomechanical analysis of sport activities on the basis of mathematic modeling and high-speed video filming. We plan to release the ‘Athletism’ and ‘Middle distance race’ CDs in the nearest future. The CDs will contain the systems that allow planning the training load in the corresponding sports. We suppose that these systems, ‘Athletism’ in particular, will be very popular. That is why we plan to use a StarForce product that can provide reliable protection of our systems.
