StarForce Provides Protection for the Rosstandart Subordinate Organization
The Russian Scientific and Technical Information Center for Standardization, Metrology and Conformity Assessment (STANDARTINFORM) selected the StarForce Content PDF solution to control distribution of its periodicals in digital format.
In accordance with modern requirements, the STANDARTINFORM journals are published in paper and electronic form. Until recently, digital versions of journals could be freely exchanged both over the network and on physical media, which led to a decrease in the enterprise’s profits. The solution, offered by StarForce Technologies, allows to control access to electronic periodicals to prevent their unauthorized copying and distribution.
The StarForce Content PDF solution is designed for the publishers interested in keeping control over their intellectual property in the digital world. During the protection process, the files are converted to the SFPDF format, which can be opened only with StarForce Reader, a special program for viewing protected documents. The user is provided with a serial number, and at the moment of its activation, a copy of the protected content is bound to the parameters of the user device and cannot be opened anywhere else. The solution also provides protection against screen capturing and unauthorized printing.
"Our system has great opportunities for working with subscribers, for example, a publisher can set an expiration date for any serial number and correct it in case of renewal of the subscription. At the same time, you can work with documents on any device, both online and offline, in case of Internet disconnection," says Natalia Yashenkova, head of marketing and PR at StarForce Technologies. "We are proud that STANDARTINFORM has chosen our solution to protect its periodicals, and we hope that this is only the beginning of long and fruitful cooperation."
For StarForce Technologies this is not the first experience with government institutions engaged in the research in the field of standardization: in 2015 Rosoboronstandart announced about the use of the StarForce solution to protect its information products.
