Update 2018.3 Released for StarForce Protection Systems
StarForce Technologies, the leading developer of software solutions to protect programs and digital information against leakage, copying and illegal distribution, has released the third update in 2018.
The most important changes are as follows:
1 |
Users can protect media files larger than 2GB in SF Content Audio/Video with the use of the downloadable player. Now the customers protect the files in Protection Studio. The media files are converted to the .sfmedia format on the customer’s computer and are not copied to the protection server. The customers generate serial numbers on the SF Content website. In addition, the customers can add watermarks to the protected video files. Watermarks can look like an arbitrary text or a serial number for activation. We also improved protection procedure for the files and fixed the error that occurred when protecting large video files. |
2 | We updated the message for periodic license confirmation for the products with computer binding. The message specifies that re-activation is required to confirm current license parameters on the server and does not need another activation. |
3 | The update also affected other StarForce Content products. The list of grabbers is extended for the whole product line (new versions of the blacklisted software are added to the list as well). |
4 | Watermarks can be placed arbitrarily in all types of files for protection except for HTML web pages with content and PPT/PPTX slideshows. |
5 | For StarForce Reader, the program to view protected documents on Windows and macOS, we fixed invalid scaling when rotating the document, as well as URL links in both protected and unprotected documents created with RAD PDF. We also fixed the error that sometimes occurred when opening protected documents on El Capitan OS. The problem took place because the OS does not support some of the macOS’s API functions that the viewer uses. |

In the new version, customers who use the product line to protect applications are not going to encounter the following types of bugs: 1) the error ‘No instruction for region start 0x40000 found’. The error took place during protection of some applications and was caused by the invalid processing of the switch statement; 2) the error that occurred during the protected application operation on processors with AVX support when XMM registers were used; 3) the error 3014 when running very large protected files. |
Detailed information is available for clients on the corporate site in the Members Area and in the Update section of Protection Studio.
