Windows 10 is supported by different protection versions

  If you have a problem with a protected application, please use the SF Helper utility. It will help you to diagnose the problem and solve it faster.

We are kindly asking end-users to read the following information carefully. It would help you to find the solution much faster.

How to know the protection version is installed for the application I use?

  • Below 4.05.007.005

    Application will never work under Windows 10.

Users that have an application protected with the version below 4.05.007.005 should contact an application publisher/developer to get a patch, which will contain newer protection version that supports Windows 10.

StarForce offers a FREE re-protection for all the developers and publishers of the programs that utilize version below 4.05.007.005 to release the appropriate patch. Please contact your sales manager for re-protection and further details.*

  • 4.05.007.005 – 5.0

    It will work under Windows 10 after driver update.

In case of having difficulties with application launching, you should update the protection driver using SFUPDATE utility. If the driver update would not help then remove the driver using SFREMOVE, install it while application launching and update it using SFUPDATE utility one more time. The protected application and SFUPDATE, SFREMOVE utilities should be launched as an administrator in this case.

Also you can get a patch from an application publisher to make a version of protection system newer if it exists.

  • 5.50 - 5.70

    Probably it would be needed to perform a driver update.

In case of having difficulties with a protected application launching, please update the protection driver with protect.exe/pcnsl.exe utility. If the driver update would not help then remove driver using protect.exe/pcnsl.exe, install it while application launching and update it one more time. The protected application and protect.exe/pcnsl.exe utility should be launched as administrator in this case.

Also you can get a patch from an application publisher to make a version of protection system higher if it exists.

  • 5.91 - and above

    There is no need for any additional actions.

This information is concerned to both 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 10.
